Multiple Shooting Spaces
At 20×30,′ our white cyclorama is one of the largest of its kind in San Diego – or use our 12×12’ grey cyclorama, shiplap wall, or interchangeable paper backdrops.
Easy Load-In
Two grade-level roll up doors make load-in a breeze – not to mention, the extra ventilation makes it nice and breezy in our space!
Top-Notch Support
We have a team of experts ready to help YOU fulfill your vision. If you need any help booking rentals, touring the space, or just grabbing an ice-cold beverage from our client fridge, get in touch! We’re available for rentals 7 days a week.
Ample Free Parking
There’s ample free parking right in front of our building for the biggest of crews. We’re just minutes off the 8, 15, and 805 freeways – and only steps away from the Grantville Trolley Station, so don’t worry about finding your way to us!
Access to Lobby & Green Room
You and your clients will feel relaxed and comfortable in our cozy, stylish front lobby and private green room, equipped with a custom built vanity mirror perfect for Hair and Makeup touch-ups.
Adjustable Natural Light
Need a pitch-black space? We’ve got you. Want that natural light to pour in? Just open up the roll-up garage doors and skylight panel, and you’ll have a beautiful, naturally lit space.
Equipment Rentals Available
Your production rental needs will be fulfilled with our free basic grip gear (c-stands, apple boxes). Need a little extra? We’ve got you covered with gear rentals that can be added on to any basic studio reservation.
Air-Conditioned
San Diego heatwave? No problem! You’ll stay cool and fresh in our air-conditioned space.
(Need it to be quiet? We’ve got two huge silent ceiling fans for air circulation, too!)
Incredible Sound System
Alexa, turn up the music! We’ll bring the bass, you bring your dance moves. (We specifically commissioned this sound system so we could have epic dance parties right here in our space!)

SIMPLE PRICING
Half Day – $600
Full Day – $1,000
Say goodbye to complicated pricing structures! Half days are $600 (up to 5 hours) and full days are $1,000 (up to 10 hours). Discounts available for full week buy-outs – just inquire with us to chat more! Dance parties are always included.

How do I check availability?
You can check our studio availability right on this website – you can see for yourself exactly when we’re available and when we’re not! If you’re ready to move forward with booking, you can request to book directly online.
Can I tour the studio first?
Absolutely, we’d love to show you around! Just give us a call or inquire with us via email at [email protected] to set up a time to stop by – we’re here Monday-Friday between normal working hours (9am-5pm).
I’m not sure about my dates yet. Can I reserve the studio?
If you’re unsure of your dates, we would be happy to put a soft hold on any dates you have in mind. In order to guarantee those dates, however, you’ll need to sign our contract and pay the full reservation fee.
Is Skylight Studios a quiet place for video production?
Yes! …for the most part. We’ve received great feedback from past video producers about shooting at Skylight! However, there is the occasional truck that drives past in our tucked-away building that we cannot control, and you may need to pause filming for a minute or two.
Is there any equipment included in my rental?
All rentals include unlimited grip including C-stands, arms, apple boxes, and sand bags. Lighting packages and additional equipment are available for an extra fee – just call or email us for a quote!
I also need a photographer and/or videographer for my project. Could you help me with that?
Totally! We have a team of talented and experienced photographers and videographers that would love to help make your vision come to life. Just give us a call to chat about what’s possible!
What is Skylight Studios’ cancellation policy?
If you cancel more than 48 hours prior to the booking date and time, you’ll receive a full refund on the reservation fee. Between 24-48 hours of your start time, you’ll receive a 50% refund, and if the cancellation occurs within 24 hours of your start time, the full studio rental amount will be non-refundable.
CAN I RENT EXTRA SPACE AT THE STUDIO?
Of course! We offer a quiet production space for $50 an hour, as well as a larger cozy green room for $75 an hour. Interested in fresh coffee, plates, glassware, access to our fridge & more? Consider renting the kitchen for $25 dollars an hour!
